Dutch Master Class Floral Design Workshop

  • Bløm Meadworks 100 South 4th Avenue Ann Arbor, MI, 48104 (map)

Join University Flower Show for their inaugural Dutch Master Class here in our taproom! This introductory course presents the basic techniques, principles, and tools used in modern floral design while drawing creative inspiration from the Dutch Master painters of the Dutch Golden Age, a period of artistic proliferation spanning much of the 17th century.

For painters during this time, still lifes were a great opportunity to display skill in depicting various textures and surfaces with a great amount of detail and fine lighting effects. Floral still lives, a sub genre, were often displayed as ornate tablescapes - typically adorned with an assortment of foods, cutlery, intricately patterned fabrics, and sometimes freshly-hunted game.

This workshop is available in two ticket options either BYOC - Bring Your Own Container OR and an All Inclusive Ticket which includes a container. If you choose to BYOC, we recommend cylindrical glass or ceramic vessels approximately 6-8" high and 4-5” wide at the mouth.

Please note this workshop includes a custom-curated mead cocktail. Non-alcoholic beverages available upon request.
